02 — The Bespoke Process

Eight weeks, by hand, from muslin to mirror

Every commission follows one unhurried path. You are present at each turn — this is a garment made with you, not merely for you.

  1. 01 Week 1 · 90 minutes

    Consultation

We begin over kapeng barako in the atelier — your occasion, your references, the fabrics you love. We take some forty measurements and photograph your posture. No two bodies are drafted the same.

  2. 02 Weeks 2–3

    Pattern & Toile

A bespoke pattern is drafted to your figure, then cut in muslin as a toile. You try the shape in the raw before a single thread of piña is touched — silhouette, sleeve height, the fall of the skirt.

  3. 03 Weeks 4–7

    Fittings

Three to six fittings refine the line. Embroiderers hand-work the calado and beadwork on the frame; the barong placket and terno alas are shaped and pressed by hand until the garment stands on its own.

  4. 04 Week 8

    The Reveal

A final steam, a last mirror. Your piece is delivered in a linen garment bag with a care card and the pattern kept on file — so the next commission begins already knowing you.

Piña fibre being hand-woven on a traditional pedal loom
03 — Craft & Heritage

Cloth woven by generations, cut for now

We work only with heritage Philippine textiles, sourced direct from weaving communities in Aklan and Laguna. A single metre of hand-loomed piña can take days to weave — so nothing here is rushed, and nothing is disposable. This is slow fashion the way our lolas knew it.

Piña Kalibo, Aklan
Fibre hand-scraped from red Bisaya pineapple leaves, knotted thread by thread and woven on a pedal loom. Translucent, cool, impossibly light — the soul of formal Filipino dress.
Jusi & Piña-Seda Lumban, Laguna
A crisp silk-organza weave, sometimes blended with piña for body. It holds the sculptural butterfly sleeve of the terno and the clean line of a modern barong.
Calado & Sombrado By hand · in-house
Open drawn-thread lacework and shadow embroidery worked entirely by hand — the fine, breathing ornament that turns cloth into heirloom.
